Leland Quarterly
Leland Quarterly is housed at Stanford University, a private university in Stanford, California. They publish: prose, poetry, and art.
They are not open to submissions from outside the Stanford undergraduate community. They function as a club, and their editors meet outside of their coursework.
How does your magazine fit into your broader campus or literary community?
Leland Quarterly is the ink-and-paper home of Stanford art and writing. Our mission is to produce a quality arts and literature magazine that showcases the superlative talents of the Stanford community.
What have you found most exciting about working for or advising your magazine?
Above all, reading the submissions that our peers and friends submit is incredibly exciting. We are reminded that there is so much imagination and variety in voices, and that everyone has a story to tell.
Where are you right now in the production cycle for your next issue?
Right now, we are in between issues, having just published our fall issue. We will shortly begin our reading cycle and expect to publish our next issue in about 7 weeks.

What do you think is the biggest challenge faced by undergraduate literary magazines?
For us, our biggest challenge is seeking institutional support and funding. However, carving out a space for art and literature, despite its difficulty, will always be a battle worth fighting.
